چکیده
A 7 year old girl was diagnosed with ALL. She presented only with bleeding in the mouth after reinduction ALL-BFM (BerlinFrankfurt-Munster) 95 chemotherapy. The most prominent lesions were petechiae and 5-10 mm purpuric macules as red spots on her tongue without fever and trauma (Figure 1). Her platelet count was less than 5000/mm3 and her coagulation tests were normal. She responded quickly to intravenous platelet transfusion. Informed consent was obtained.

Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Pediatric Severe Immune Thrombocytopenia: A Case Report and Literature Review
Treatment of severe Immune Thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) accompanied by life-threatening bleeding events is challenging and a combination of treatment measures should be undertaken to rapidly increase the platelet count. Herein, we report a case of severe ITP in a seven-year-old boy who suffered from massive bleeding which was totally unresponsive to conventional therapeutic interventions. Sin...

Background: Immune thrombocytopenia is a hematologic disorder characterized by low platelet count and variable bleeding manifestations due to immune-mediated platelet destruction and/or suppression of platelet production. This study was performed to evaluate characteristics and clinical presentations of adult patients with immune thrombocytopenia and to explore the clinical value of platelet an...

Background: Cold antibody induced platelet clumping is a rare in-vitro phenomenon that causes EDTA independent pseudo thrombocytopenia. This pre-analytical problem leads to a challenge in the clinical laboratory. In such a case platelets tend to easily aggregate in vitro, giving rise to lower platelet counts. The error is detected simply by examining peripheral blood smear. This report describe...
